'Mean Girls' Paramount+ adaptation tops domestic box office
'Mean Girls' by Paramount surpassed Jason Statham's 'The Beekeeper'
Mean Girls musical by Paramount made its place in the top at the domestic box office leaving behind the latest Jason Statham's starrer, The Beekeeper.
As reported by Variety, the adaptation of the Broadway adaptation of the 2004 comedy generated 11.65 million dollars from it premiere and preview screenings on Friday.
Its four-day earning grossed up to 31.5 million dollars, with negligible effect expected on its business through the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.
When the first trailer for Mean Girls was launched many people pointed out that the musical “purposefully” excluded the songs and its dance numbers.

It must have come across as a shock to many spectators that Paramount’s Mean Girls was in fact an adaptation of the Broadway musical.

If Mean Girls continue to generate more revenue at the same pace for a few more weeks, it is expected to cross the 36-million-dollar production benchmark.
About Paramount+ 'Mean Girls':
The new adaptation of Mean Girls stars Angourie Rice as the homeschooled Cady, an original role played by Lindsay Lohan back in 2004.
Reneé Rapp reprised her Broadway role as the infamous Regina George, while other cast members include Bebe Wood, Avantika and original stars Tim Meadows and Tina Fey.
'The Beekeeper' box office earning:
The Beekeeper, a Jason Statham actioner generated a business of 6.7 million dollars from previews at 3,303 locations from Friday.
In the conspiracy action movie, Statham plays the role of Adam Clay, a former espionage expert known as a Beekeeper, who embarks on a revenge mission and unravels a conspiracy against the public society.
