Kim Kardashian has stepped forward to defend her use of tanning beds, shedding light on a personal aspect of her life as she revealed that her choice to utilize tanning beds is directly linked to managing her psoriasis, a chronic skin condition she has been open about in the past.

Taking to her X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, The Kardashians star defended her use of tanning beds by responding, “I have psoriasis and it really helps when it’s bad. But I don’t use it too often.”

She replied the response to the Allure magazine plea that it made earlier, “Please, Kim Kardashian, don’t try to normalize tanning beds,” adding, “The stats about tanning and cancer are terrifying.”

This whole issue highlighted when Kim, 43 posted a TikTok video in which she gave a tour of her SKKN BY KIM offices and showcased her in-office tanning bed.

Playfully participating in the "of course" video trend, she shared glimpses of her wall adorned with magazine covers, provided a close-up view of a custom mannequin replicating her dimensions, and highlighted a 3D model of her brain resting on her desk.

For the unversed, tanning beds are recognized as effective treatments for psoriasis, as verified by the National Institute of Health.

This is because light therapy, similar to the kind Kardashian has undergone, and exposure to natural sunlight can provide relief for psoriasis symptoms.

However, as highlighted by Verywell Health, one of the treatments for psoriasis involves phototherapy with ultraviolet B (UVB) light, which is found in natural sunlight and tanning beds. It is important to note, though, that tanning beds primarily emit ultraviolet A (UVA) light.

It is pertinent to mention that Kim Kardashian's battle with psoriasis has been extensively known she initially disclosed her diagnosis in a 2011 episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Over time, she has shared various herbal remedies she experimented with to alleviate psoriasis flare-ups.

Additionally, she has previously commended light therapy for contributing to the improvement of her skin condition.
