Britney Spears has issued an indirect apology to ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake after listening to his latest song, Selfish, from the upcoming album Everything I Thought It Was.

On Monday, January 29, she posted a clip from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where Timberlake was seen singing an acoustic version of his new track.

Expressing that she’s “in love” with Selfish, the singer stated, “I wanna apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book. If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about, I am deeply sorry.”

In her best-selling 2023 book, The Woman in Me, Britney revealed that the Suit and Tie singer had allegedly pressurized her into having an abortion, then left her lying on the bathroom floor alone. He was reportedly involved in affairs with other women, too.

Seemingly, the Hit Me Baby One More Time vocalist regrets writing about her former lover’s misbehavior and has chosen to forgive him after listening to Selfish, even though it’s not an apology song.

“Honey don't apologize for what you wrote in your book, you let the world see what Justin Timberlake really is when the cameras aren't on,” a fan reacted in the comments section.

Another said, “She is way kinder to him than he deserves,” adding, “I am happy she wrote the book and feel like she should not apologize for her experience. I hope she’s found peace and truly feels this way. She’s a very good person who went through trauma, but still is able to love the people who have hurt her.”
