Darius Rucker, who was detained on drugs charges on Thursday in Williamson County, Tennessee granted bail on the same day.
As reported by the Rolling Stone, the country music star was arrested over charges of simple possession, casual exchange, and violation of registration law.
However, the Nineties stalwarts Hootie & the Blowfish singer was granted bail on $10,500 bond.
According to the local outlet, WSMV, the incident occurred around 10:00 PM, when police pulled over Rucker's vehicle for a minor traffic violation.
During the stop, the police officers reportedly observed suspicious behavior, leading to search of the vehicle, in which illegal drugs were found.
Meanwhile, the attorney representing Rucker, Mark Puryear, ensured Rolling Stone that, “Darius Rucker is fully cooperating with authorities related to misdemeanor charges.”
Rucker landed in this legal trouble nearly two months ahead of hitting the road with Hootie & the Blowfish band’s Summer Camp With Trucks tour, scheduled to start from May 30, 2024 in Dallas, Texas.
Meanwhile, in December 2023, Rucker also received the Hollywood Walk of Fame honour, with his band mates in attendance to celebrate his career’s big milestone.
“This is stuff you don’t even dream about when you’re from South Carolina,” said Darius Rucker in his acceptance speech.
He continued, “You know, struggling, growing up, and just wanting to be a singer — that’s all I ever wanted to be was a singer. But you never dream that this stuff is going to happen…To be here, right here with a star on the Walk of Fame…it’s the biggest thing that’s happened to me.”
