Halle Bailey shares the profound joy and happiness that parenthood has brought to her and her boyfriend, DDG, with the arrival of their son, Halo.

While gracing the Recording Academy Honors hosted by the Black Music Collective at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles on Thursday the Little Mermaid starlet shared insights about her experience as a mother to her baby boy, Halo.

Bailey, who gave birth to her son with rapper boyfriend DDG last year, told Entertainment Tonight while on the event's red carpet, "It's wonderful," adding "I love our baby so much. We're so happy.”

DDG,26, who accompanied Bailey at the occasion, also included, "It's amazing."

Bailey also shared with PEOPLE on Thursday the narrative behind her son's name.

The Colour Purple star commented on the name of her baby, “It was actually my boyfriend's idea,” adding, “He's the one who came up with his name.”

She went on to say, “We just agreed, and we loved it,” adding, “I love the name Halo."

When asked if there was a link between her son's name and Beyoncé's song Halo, Bailey responded with a chuckle, “He for sure has a theme song.”

Discussing the experience of being a mother, she expressed to PEOPLE that embracing this new role is incredibly thrilling.

She professed her admiration for her baby boy, emphasizing that he is the most endearing and angelic presence in her world.

In January, Bailey disclosed that she welcomed her first child. Through an Instagram post, she shared an image of herself holding her baby's delicate hand, showcasing the little one wearing a gold bracelet engraved with the name Halo.

"Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son.. welcome to the world my halo the world is desperate to know you," Bailey captioned the post.
