Deborra-Lee Furness describes challenges of returning to acting amid Hugh Jackman split
Deborra-Lee Furness shared that her recent role in 'Force of Nature: The Dry 2' presented one of her most challenging performances
Deborra-Lee Furness has candidly shared that her return to the spotlight has been one of her most challenging experiences amid a split from her longtime husband, Hugh Jackman after an extended hiatus.
The 68-year-old has revealed that her latest performance in Force of Nature: The Dry 2 was one of her most difficult.
“It was one of the toughest shoots I've had,” Deborra-Lee shared with Nine this week. She went on to describe the harsh conditions of the bush-set landscape, characterizing the filming experience as "brutal."
“I haven't worked in a while. I've been raising a family. It's the first time I've come back to work, which is a little nerve-racking,” she continued.
She added, “I think anyone in any industry, when you haven't done it a while... but it's like riding a bike. I was like, ‘I got this’”.
The sequel to the local hit film The Dry, which scored an impressive $22 million at the Australian box office in 2021, was shot in Victoria in 2022.

The new film, called Force of Nature, is another murder mystery and like The Dry, it's based on a bestselling novel by Jane Harper and will be again directed by Robert Connolly.
Bana is set to reprise his role as Aaron Falk, the determined detective familiar to fans from The Dry, while Furness takes on the character of Jill Bailey.
Furness has experienced a significant hiatus in her acting career, with her last on-screen appearance in the mini-series Hyde & Seek in 2016 and the film Blessed in 2009. Since then, she has also engaged in occasional voice work.
For the unversed, last year, Furness and her former husband, Jackman, aged 55, disclosed their separation, citing a desire for individual growth as the reason for their decision.
