Killer Mike got arrested over a misdemeanor charge right after winning three Grammys in Los Angeles


Killer Mike got arrested from the 2024 Grammy Awards' venue on Sunday night right after winning three honours from the Recording Academy.

As reported by BBC, the US rapper Killer Mike was detained over an altercation inside the Crypto.com Arena, where the star-studded award ceremony took place.

According to the Los Angeles police's spokesperson Mike Lopez, the 48-year-old singer  was booked on a misdemeanour charge, after being involved in an altercation.

However, the Run singer was later released after being scheduled to appear in court later this month.

In widely circulated video Killer Mike, whose real name is Michael Render, could be seen being escorted by the police officers from the venue in handcuffs.

The attendees  at the arena also heard someone shouting "free Mike" as the rapper was being taken away.

This unforeseen trouble came after Mike simultaneously won three Grammy awards  for the first time in his 20-year career.

Killer Mike first ever Grammy wins:

Killer Mikes bagged two Grammys for best rap song and best rap performance for his songs Scientists & Engineers, featuring André 3000, Future and Eryn Allen Kane.

He received his third award for best rap album for Michael.

Killer Mike acceptance speech at 2024 Grammy Awards:

The Legend Has It singer in his acceptance speech said, "This is for all the people who think you're too old to rap... we keep hip-hop alive. Never ever stop doing what you do."

Killer Mike, who is also a political activist is known for voicing his concerns for the rights of Black Americans, including police brutality and racism.

The Grammy Awards were dominated by Taylor Swift, who made history with a fourth win for best album.
