Toby Keith famous for hits such as Red Solo Cup and Should Have Been a Cowboy, has peacefully passed away at the age of 62.
The country singer's family shared in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) that he “passed peacefully” on Monday night as he was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2022.
The statement read, "Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on Feb. 5 surrounded by his family,” adding, “He fought his fight with grace and courage."
"Please respect the privacy of his family at this time," the message concluded.
Keith discussed his battle with cancer when he attended the People’s Choice Country Awards in September 2023.
The I Love This Bar singer shared with E! News during that period that his experience with cancer was “a little bit of a roller coaster. You get good days and, you know, you're up and down, up and down.”
“It's always zero to 60 and 60 to zero but I feel good today," he said on the red carpet.
In December 2023, Keith performed his inaugural headline concerts following the disclosure of his cancer diagnosis at Park MGM in Las Vegas.
"Hey everybody! This is Toby Keith. It’s been a while. You know what I’ve been doing — been on the old rollercoaster, but Almighty’s riding shotgun. He’s letting me drive for some reason, but we’re making a big announcement," said Keith in a video.

In a video shared to YouTube, he added, "I’m doing a little deal and thought I’d start in the great Las Vegas."
Keith further revealed, "It’ll be my first two shows. They’re kind of rehab shows — get the band back in sync, get me rolling again," continuing, "First time in my whole life I’ve been off over two years. I’ve never been off a year in my life."
He continued, "Through COVID and cancer, the old devil’s been after me a little bit," adding, "I’ve got him by the horns right now, so instead of just sitting around and waiting, we’re gonna get the band back together."
It is pertinent to mention here that over time, Toby Keith performed for several U.S. presidents such as George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump. Additionally, in 2021, he received the National Medal of the Arts from Trump.
