Taylor Swift confesses her ‘backup plan’ for upcoming album announcement

Taylor Swift announced her new album 'The Tortured Poets Department' during 13 Grammys triumph

Taylor Swift has left fans buzzing after disclosing that she had no intention of announcing her highly anticipated album, The Tortured Poets Department, during the 2024 Grammys.

During night one of her Eras Tour stop in Tokyo on Feb. 7, the Anti-Hero crooner told the crowd that she was actually planning to reveal the news of her 11th studio album in Tokyo if she had not won a golden gramophone.

"I had this plan in my head, and I told my friends — I told Jack, but I hadn’t really told many other people," Swift told the crowd during the Evermore set of her concert, per a fan-posted video.

She added, "I thought, 'Okay, so if I’m lucky enough to win one thing tonight, I’m just going to do it. I’m just going to announce my new album.'"

The Lover crooner said, "I told myself if I'm lucky enough to win anything tonight, I'm just gonna do it. I'm just gonna announce it. My backup plan was that I was gonna announce tonight in Tokyo!"

Throughout the performance, she disclosed that she has been actively crafting her newest album ever since concluding her work on Midnights.

"I’ve been working on it for about two years, I kept working on it throughout the US tour. When it was perfect in my opinion — when it was good enough for you — I finished it. I am so, so excited. Soon you'll get to hear it. Soon we’ll get to hear it together,” Swift, 34, revealed,

The Blank Space singer further stated, "Everyone asks, 'Why do you make so many albums?' It's like, 'Man, because I love it so much. I'm having fun. Leave me alone.'"

For the unversed, during the Grammy Awards ceremony, as Taylor Swift received her 13th Grammy for best pop vocal album she surprised the audience by unveiling her upcoming album, "The Tortured Poets Department," scheduled for release on April 19.
