'The Bachelor's' Sydney Gordon calls out trolls for 'hurtful' criticism
Sydney Gordon reacted to the backlash she received after getting eliminated from 'The Bachelor'
The Bachelor's Sydney Gordon responded to critics after facing backlash over her feud with fellow contestant Maria Georgas.
Taking to her Instagram account, Sydney shared a post, featuring an emotional video of herself in which she addressed the "two of the thousands of hurtful messages" she's received since the premier of Joey Graziadei’s season.
She talked about the messages, including being called a "f–king bitch" and "a skank," after her elimination from the show on the February 12 episode.
Sydney said in the video, "Every time I open up Instagram, TikTok, I am constantly reminded off all the insecurities that it took me so long to overcome. To hear, ‘You’re ugly’ [and] ‘You look like a man,’ it almost feels like I went back to square one."
She went on to say, "People struggle with [suicidal] ideation. That is something that should not be taken lightly. That is not something that we should be joking about. We as a society need to be better, we need to do better, we deserve better."
The 28-year-old Reality TV star also reminded fans that Bachelor Nation stars are "real human beings" and emphasized how comments can deeply affect them," she said.
While acknowledging she would have handled some things differently on her Bachelor journey, Sydney stated, "I can't discuss show details, I'll refrain from commenting to protect my peace, as well as that of my family and friends. Thank you for understanding."
About Sydney Gordon and Maria Georgas feud:
Bachelor Nation fans met Sydney last month as she tried to connect with Joe. The drama ensued when Sydney told contestant Madina Alam that Maria had criticized the 31-year-old model's age insecurities.
Despite Maria denying it, Sydney persisted in her accusations as their conflict escalated on a two-on-one date with Joey in Malta, leading to her elimination due to the 28-year-old TV personality's stronger bond with Maria.
Before the episode aired, Ashley Iaconetti defended Sydney on Instagram, urging kindness toward her friend.
