Squid Game actor O Yeong-Su grappled with legal trouble as he was sentenced in a sexual misconduct case in Seoul, South Korea.

Reuters confirmed that the South Korean actor is sentenced to 8 months in prison, and it will be suspended for two years, following a 2017 incident where he allegedly hugged and kissed a woman on the cheek without her consent.

He is also directed to attend a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program.

As per the reports of the Deadline O Yeong, disavowed all the charges against him after the court verdict was released on Friday.

He also said he’d appeal his conviction.

The case was initially filed against him in November 2022.

Previously, he told broadcaster JTBC that he did have contact with the woman, but only was "holding her hand while guiding the way" and he "only apologized because she said she wouldn't take issue with an apology."

Amid the proceedings, Judge Jeong Yeon-ju mentioned that the woman’s diary as proof and said her claims were “consistent … and appear to be statements that cannot be made without actually experiencing them.”

In Squid Game, O Yeong played Oh Il-nam, the lead rival in the Korean series, streamed on Netflix. He also won the Golden Globe Award for best supporting actor in a series

O Yeong-Su also emerged as the first Korean actor to ever win at an awards show at the age of 77.
