M. Emmet Walsh famous for his role in Blood Simple and Blade Runner has left the world mourn as he passed away at the age of 88.

According to the report of The Hollywood Reporter, The Jerk star's longtime manager, Sandy Joseph confirmed the actor’s death and also shared that Walsh died on Tuesday in Vermont due to cardiac arrest.

Walsh played the character of Harrison Ford’s LAPD boss in Ridley Scott’s 1982 Blade Runner.

He also became famous by performing the brutal private detective Loren Visser in the Coen brothers’ Blood Simple.

Pauline Kael said about him that he was the film’s “only colorful performer. He lays on the loathsomeness, but he gives it a little twirl — a sportiness.”

In his career, he played the character of a corrupt sheriff in the 1986 horror film Critters and a small role as a security guard in Knives Out.

Walsh also garnered a Spirit Award for his outstanding performance as the best male lead in Blood Simple.

Subsequently, the Coen brothers cast him again in Raising Arizona (1987), this time for a lively role as a talkative machine shop worker.
