Cillian Murphy joins 'Blood Runs Coal' film adaptation cast after ‘Oppenheimer’ Oscars win
Universal Studios collaborated with Cillian Murphy to star and produce ‘Blood Runs Coal’ film adaptation
Cillian Murphy is set to take the lead role in the upcoming film adaptation of Blood Runs Coal, to be produced by Universal Studios.
The American-based film production company has secured the rights for the adaptation of Mark A. Bradley’s book, Blood Runs Coal: The Yablonski Murders and the Battle for the United Mine Workers of America, and also joined the team with the Oppenheimer star who will both star in and produce the film.
As per the reports of Variety, the screenplay will be adopted by the screenwriter Jez Butterworth, who is known for his work Spectre, and Ford v Ferrari, along with John-Henry Butterworth screenwriter of Get On Up, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
Previously, the duo collaborated on Edge of Tomorrow.

The upcoming movie will be produced by John Davis and Jordan Davis under the banner of Davis Entertainment, and Murphy and Alan Moloney will collaborate with production through Big Things Films.
Mark A. Bradley is set to take the role of executive produce while Universal’s Lexi Barta, the senior vice president will supervise the project for the studio.
Blood Runs Coal is based on the events within Pennsylvania's coal mines during the 1960s, delving into a gripping tale of a dramatic assassination that reshaped the landscape of American labor unions.
