Tori Kelly and Jelly Rollare set to take on the role of mentors for 'American Idol's' Top 24 contestants

Tori Kelly and Jelly Roll, who are set to take on the role of mentors for American Idol's Top 24 contestants, take a moment to reflect on their respective journeys in the music industry.

During the chit-chat with PEOPLE from Sunday's episode of the American music reality show, they recalled the memories from their roles as mentors.

"When I got the call from American Idol to be a mentor, I was so excited because I just remember being 16 years old auditioning for this very show. So it was a very full circle moment for me to realize, 'Oh, you have something to give now,'" Kelly said

Roll added, "I feel like I bring a lot of experience in the form of failure to the table. I think that's something they're going to have to be familiar with because that's what it takes to get good. You got to do it wrong a thousand times.”

The Save Me singer also gives competitor Odell Bunton Jr. some advice in the video.

"He knows what he's got but I think he's almost afraid of overdoing it. For him to have a great performance he's got to let loose," Jelly Roll shared.

He continued, "This is the biggest moment of your career man. So I would go all in."
