'Fly Me to the Moon' is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 12


Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum are set to ignite the silver screen with their upcoming collaboration in the film Fly Me to the Moon.

Sony and Apple have dropped the first trailer for Fly Me to the Moon, a romantic comedy, which is set to premiere on July 12.

Directed by Greg Berlanti, the film revolves around the 1960s space race, it stars Johansson as Kelly Jones, a marketing executive hired by NASA to film a fake moon landing in case the real mission fails, while Tatum plays Cole Davis, the launch director.

As reported by PEOPLE, Johansson—who is also the movie's producer—expressed her enthusiasm about collaborating with Tatum.

She said, "Channing is such an easy-going actor, good spirited and professional. Falling in love with him onscreen was pretty easy. He’s such a likable person."

"Kelly and Cole are such opposites. It was fun to play that dynamic with Channing," she added.

The director Berlanti also opened about the inspiration for the, as he stated, "the inspiration for this story, was to craft a big, fun, smart original movie around whether or not the American government could have possibly faked the Apollo 11 moon landing, which is still the most-watched live TV event in the history of the world and has since become one of the most talked about conspiracy theories."

On July 12, Fly Me to the Moon is slated to release in theatres.
