Shawn Levy worked with Ryan Reynolds in 'The Adam Project', 'Free Guy', and 'Deadpool & Wolverine'
Shawn Levy, the director of Deadpool & Wolverine, recently unveiled an intriguing behind-the-scenes tidbit about his journey with Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.
While conversing with PEOPLE, at CinemaCon on April 11, the Free Guy director was asked How much time he spent with Reynold, he replied, “A lot.”
He added, “More than I've spent with any male friend since literally high school.”
Living "half a block from each other" in New York City, the two Canadian filmmakers claim " it's all very intertwined — which makes it very convenient for two guys who work as hard as we do.”
The Red Notice star has worked with Levy as a producer and performer on many projects, including 2022's The Adam Project, 2021's Free Guy, and now Deadpool & Wolverine, in which he plays the sarcastic Marvel Comics character.
During the 2011 Real Steel filming, Levy disclosed that their strong link had been foretold by their common friend, Hugh Jackman.
“Hugh said, ‘For what it's worth, if you ever meet and work with Ryan Reynolds, you’re never going to stop,’” Levy recalled the moment from 2010.
He continued, “I met Ryan about a movie we didn't end up making together — that I'll never name — and we just had an ease with each other,” adding that it “manifested” their 2021’s Free Guy.
