Connie Chiume, starring in Beyoncé's Black Is King, Black Panther, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Black Panther, died at the age of 72.

The South African actress passed suddenly on Tuesday at Garden City Hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa, according to a message on her family's Instagram page, however, the cause of her death was not disclosed yet."

The statement reads, “The Chiume Family regrets to inform you of the passing of the internationally acclaimed award-winning actress Connie Chiume,” they wrote in a statement.

Chiume’s family added, “The Family asks for privacy during this difficult period. The family will communicate further details.”

Before making her breakthrough in the film and television industries, the Jewel star, who was born on June 5, 1952, in Welkom, South Africa, completed her studies as a nurse and obtained a teaching degree, according to The Independent.

She starred in multiple TV series and films, including Warriors from Hell, The Line, I Dreamed of Africa, Yizo yizo, Zone 14, Home Affairs, Blessers, Jewel, and Rhythm City, where she played Mamokete Khuse.

Chiume left behind to mourn her four children. 1985 saw her marriage end in divorce in 2004.
