Taylor Swift's VMAs speech features rare public mention of Travis Kelce: 'My boyfriend'
The 'Fortnight' singer gave her NFL star lover a heartfelt shoutout
In a heartwarming moment at the VMAs, Taylor Swift gave a special shoutout to her 'boyfriend' Travis Kelce, marking the first time she's publicly mentioned him by name.
At the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, the Fortnight singer gave her NFL star lover a heartfelt shoutout. It was the first time she had mentioned his name in public.
“The thing is, this video seems very sad when you watch it, but actually it was like, the most fun video to make,” Swift, 34, said while accepting the win for video of the year.
She added, “Something that I’ll always remember is that when I would finish a take and I’d say ‘Cut,’ and we’d be done with that take, I would always just hear someone like, cheering, and like, ‘Woo!’ Like from across the studio where we were shooting it and that one person was my boyfriend Travis.”
The UBS Arena audience cheered and clapped for so long that Swift had to pause her speech to allow them to continue when she mentioned Kelce’s name.
“Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic so I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot, because I’ll always remember that,” she said.
Subsequently, Kelce "liked" an MTV post featuring Swift delivering the speech.
