One Direction singer Liam Payne breathes his last at age 31

Liam Payne has left the world in mourning as he passed away in a tragic death on Wednesday night.

According to Argentine news station TN, the deceased artist was declared dead after falling several storeys at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

In addition to conducting an autopsy, local police informed PEOPLE that they are presently looking into what caused his death.

Liam "had jumped from the balcony of his room," Pablo Policicchio, the director of communications for the Buenos Aires Security Ministry, said to The Associated Press.

He said that just after 5 p.m. local time, police received an emergency call and proceeded to the hotel.

"An aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol," he warned.

A 911 call reveals the hotel management stating that they had "a guest who is overwhelmed with drugs and alcohol ... He’s destroying the entire room and, well, we need you to send someone, please.”

To note, along with Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik, Liam was a member of the well-known boy band One Direction.

Following the release of their most recent album, Made in the A.M., the pop-rock group said in 2016 that they would be taking an indefinite break.
