Matthew Perry's family opens up about ‘painful’ journey a year after his passing
The stepfather of the 'Friend' alum Keith Morrison shared that the investigative process is really 'painful'
On the first death anniversary of Matthew Perry, his family reflects on the 'painful' journey of the past year.
The stepfather of the Friend's alum Keith Morrison, who wed Perry's mother Suzanne Morrison in 1981, told PEOPLE that the investigative process is really "painful" and that this time is very difficult.
The 77-year-old Morrison stated, "It makes you angry."
Without providing any specifics about the inquiry, Keith believes that the allegations against five people may have been impacted by his stepson's standing as a public figure.
Jasveen Sangha, also known as "The Ketamine Queen," two physicians, Mark Chavez and Salvador Plasencia, the actor's live-in helper Kenneth Iwamasa, and a friend, Erik Fleming, who helped Sangha and the actor sell ketamine, are all part of the group,
"I can only say I suspect it, that authorities, agencies got together to investigate and to lay charges against these people because Matthew is so famous or well known, it would get around," the Dateline host says.
Morrison went on to say, "People would be aware of this investigation, they'd be aware of the charges, and it would be made public and it would serve notice to anybody who was in a position to be an enabler: you better not do it. Because the price, if you do, may be very high indeed."
The autopsy revealed that Perry died on October 28, 2023, from severe ketamine effects, and five individuals have been prosecuted about his passing.
