TikTok recently faced a ban in United States due to privacy concerns.

TikTok has strongly responded to the restrictions applied by the US government by offering a new way to download the app on smartphones.

Although Apple and Google have yet to restore the short video sharing app since January 19, because US law demands ByteDance to sell the app or face a ban, on Friday, February 6, TikTok announced that people who use Android can now download and gain access to the app using package kits from its website.

After becoming the President of the United States, Donald Trump issued an order delaying the law’s enforcement for further 75 days.

Trump stated that he is in negotiations with multiple parties about the app's potential purchase and is confident a decision will be made this month.

As of right now the app has 170 million American users.

Signing an executive document on Monday, the president called for the creation of a sovereign wealth fund within the next year, hinting that it might be used to buy TikTok.

U.S officials have raised concerns about ByteDance’s control and emphasised that it could lead to a misuse of the country’s data, putting it at risk.

However, free speech advocates have stood up and criticised the ban, which was approved and greenlit by Congress and signed by then-President Joe Biden.
