Ariana Grande reveals how she helped her parents reconcile
Ariana Grande has finally spoken out about her parents’ strained relationship.
The 31-year-old pop-star and actress's parents, Joan Grande and Ed Butera, had a tense relationship following their early 2000s divorce. However, she now claims she "can’t separate them."
During an appearance on WTF with Marc Maron, on February 10, the Wicked star revealed, "They’re not together, but they’re best friends."
Ariana took credit for their strong friendship saying it required a lot of hard work and dedication to get them where they are now, saying, "It took 18 years and it took me forcing it. I forced them to communicate again. I really did."
Reflecting on her 24th birthday, the Supernatural singer shared that she told her parents she had had enough of their poor relationship.
"I remember just kind of being at this pivotal point where I was just like, 'You guys, I love you both so much. It’s been such a long time. Figure it out,'" Ariana said.
Continuing, she stated, "'Hello, it’s been 18 years. Please get over it.' And they did."
While discussing how her parents reconciled, the Victorious alum explained that they must’ve had a meaningful conversation later or realised their love for their daughter was greater than their feud that they eventually got over it, describing the whole thing as "beautiful."
