Selena Gomez surprises fans on the season finale for ‘Wizards’ reboot
The reboot of Disney’s original show which starred Gomez welcomes her back for the final episode
Selena Gomez returns to the Waverly Place as the beloved Alex Russo in the final episode of the show’s reboot.
The reboot called Wizards Beyond Waverly Place has released a new clip for the final episode which airs Feb 28, Friday.
Gomez last appeared on the show in the first episode as the character she made famous years ago, the mischievous Alex Russo. Alex drops off a new character named Billie, a young wizard, in the care of her brother Justin Russo.
The reworked series centers around Justin’s family and their shenanigans. Actor David Henrie reprises his role as Justin Russo on the show.
Gomez promised that her character will be returning soon, in a story posted after the first episode’s premiere.
The series made its premiere on Disney Channel in October 2024. It was also made available to stream on Disney+ where it broke viewership records in the first 12 days of its release.
The show gained 3.2 million views globally and became “the most-watched Disney Channel series premiere on the streaming service”, according to Screen Rant.
Speaking at the premiere of the show back in October, Gomez shared, “This is what gave me everything that I have today, and I'll never forget that this is where I started.”
