Snapchat is gearing up to launch its first-ever video generative AI Lenses, powered by it's in-house-built generative video model.

The introduction of AI Video Lenses marks a significant milestone for the social networking site, which has been investing in AI technology alongside other prominent tech giants.

Notably, the launch follows Snapchat’s recently unveiled AI video-generation tool at the Partner Summit in September 2024.

This move also aims to keep Snapchat competitive and provide users with unique AI features not available on rival platforms such as Instagram and TikTok.

“We have a long history of being first movers to bring advanced AR, ML, and AI tools directly to our community, and we’re excited to see what Snapchatters create,” Snapchat’s blog post reads.

The new feature is exclusive to Snapchat's premium subscription tier, Snapchat Platinum, which costs $15.99 per month.

Initially, three AI Video Lenses will be available, including "Raccoon" and "Fox," which animate furry friends interacting with users.

Moreover, the third one is "Spring Flowers," which generates a zoom-out effect revealing the person in the Snap holding a bouquet.

Snapchat users can access these Lenses through the Lens carousel and capture a Snap using their front or back camera. The AI video will be automatically saved to the Snapchat Memories.

Snapchat also plans to add more AI Video Lenses, further enhancing the user experience.
