King Charles has recently had to deal with two of his nation’s closest allies, Canada and the USA, locking horns over annexation threats.

US President Donald Trump has ignited new tensions with Canada by issuing threats to seize its territories. He has stated his desire to make them the 51st state of America.

Charles has now moved to assure his support to Canada at the behest of the American demands.

The King recently hosted two of Canada’s senior officials at the Buckingham Palace on March 12, Wednesday.

The officials were Greg Peters, the Senate’s Usher of the Black Rod, and Raymonde Gagné, the Senate Speaker.

A source has shared with Daily Express, that while the meeting had been planned since long, the recent threat from the USA was likely the chief matter discussed.

“Given the circumstances, it would be unusual if Mr. Trump’s remarks had not been raised,” the source revealed.

On March 11, Tuesday, President Trump also threatened Canada with doubling the tariffs on its steel and aluminium. Though, he withdrew the decision mere hours later.

“Mark Carney, the incoming Canadian Prime Minister, has vowed to maintain retaliatory tariffs until the US commits to free trade,” Daily Express has informed.

Reportedly, the monarch welcomed his Canadian guests in both English and French, the two main languages spoken in Canada.

He also presented Mr. Peters with a custom-built ceremonial sword which was commissioned by the Senate to honour him.
