'The White Lotus' star Aimee Lou Wood continues to be bullied over looks
Aimee Lou Wood opens up about her experience in Hollywood
The White Lotus star Aimee Lou Wood has taken a stand for herself as she clapped back at critics who have been passing comments about her teeth.
In a candid chat with The Hollywood Reporter, the 31-year-old star opened up about being nervous to star alongside major Hollywood icons in the successful HBO hit series.
"I’m so British in my sensibility that I wasn’t sure how to handle being around so many people who are so front-footed and confident. All I ever do is take the p*** out of myself," she expressed.
Furthermore, she highlighted the constant comments she gets on her unique set of teeth, saying, "Even the way 'The White Lotus' fans are talking about me and my teeth, that I don’t have veneers or Botox, it feels a bit rebellious."
The actress who rose to fame after her iconic performance as Aimee Gibbs on Sex Education, has now grown to love herself for who she is and has accepted that it’s her distinctive looks and lifestyle that sets her apart from everyone.
During an interview with the Observer in 2021, Aimee also reflected on the time she used to believe she was too 'ugly' to get major roles in movies or shows after being bullied in the past.
She mentioned how she used to get made fun of for her appearance back when she was younger, which led her to believe she would never be able to land roles.
"It’s a myth I’ve told myself. I had it in my brain that I’m not conventional-looking enough and that’s a mental barrier I’ve had to overcome," she remarked.
Although Aimee has now overcome those concerns, she did go on to reveal that she lost out on a role to play an American Character due to her teeth.
