Selena Gomez 'stuns' senior costars with surprise move

Steve Martin and Martin Short, Only Murders in the Building actors, missed the 2025 SAG Awards.

During the event held on February 23, the Hulu show achieved success for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series. Short, 74, also won a personal award for outstanding male actor in a comedy series.

But, Short didn’t make it to the ceremony because of COVID, and presenters Joey King and Jack Quaid accepted the plaque on his behalf.

On March 12, Selena Gomez presented her co-actors with their SAG awards, first time on camera, and they reacted to their wins.

On the Only Murders in the Building Instagram account, Gomez surprised the actors with their trophies with a little help from their costar Michael Cyril Creighton and the show's co-creator and executive producer John Hoffman.

"And the SAG Award goes to Steve Martin and Martin Short," she said as she handed over the trophies.

Short acted as if the weight of his awards was so heavy that he fell to the ground and then delivered a faux acceptance speech.

"I would like to thank the Academy and everyone in the crew... Whose names [I] just don't know," he teased.

For the unversed, Only Murders in the Building is a mystery comedy drama TV series with four seasons released up till now.
