Apple urges users to update devices to avoid THIS malicious bug
Apple releases a new iOS patch security patch
Apple has issued a warning to millions of its users, urging them to update their iPhone and iPad devices due to critical security vulnerabilities.
The Cupertino-based company has released a new iOS patch. This update follows the previous update that was released in February, highlighting the severity of the issue.
Identified as CVE-2025-24201, the vulnerability has affected Webkit, the browser engine used in Safari and other internet browsers on iOS devices.
“Maliciously crafted web content may be able to break out of the Web Content sandbox. This is a supplementary fix for an attack that was blocked in iOS 17.2," the company’s statement reads.
The hackers were exploiting this flaw by creating malicious websites that granted them access to other areas of the device.
While the patch has fixed this vulnerability, unfortunately, it has introduced another issue, where Apple Intelligence is activated on devices even if users had previously disabled it.
Notably, this is not the first time Apple has asked users to update their devices due to security concerns.
Earlier, in February, the tech giant warned of "extremely sophisticated" attacks that could disable the USB Restricted Mode on locked devices.
For the unversed, Apple's USB Restricted Mode is a security feature introduced in iOS 11.4.1 to prevent locked devices from leaking data to connected accessories.
The latest security update is available for the following devices.
- iPhone XS and later
- iPad Pro 13-inch
- iPad Pro 12.9-inch 3rd generation and later
- iPad Pro 11-inch 1st generation and later
- iPad Air 3rd generation and later
- iPad 7th generation and later
- iPad mini 5th generation and later
