Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Air will be the company’s first “completely port-free iPhone.”

According to a recent report, the Cupertino-based tech giant has considered removing the charging port entirely, opting for a fully wireless design.

Bloomberg reported that Apple will focus on redesigning internal components, such as the display and silicon, to optimise efficiency.

The report also highlighted that the device's ultra-slim profile necessitated a smaller battery, prompting Apple to make significant modifications to maintain battery life.

Moreover, to further enhance power efficiency, Apple has reportedly introduced software optimisations. These efforts aim to ensure that the iPhone 17 Air delivers a seamless user experience despite its compact design.

Notably, the iPhone 17 Air is also expected to be the company’s thinnest iPhone yet, measuring 5.5mm in thickness.

To achieve this, Apple will likely make some hardware compromises, such as limiting the rear camera setup to a single sensor.

The iPhone 17 Air is expected to feature a 6.6-inch display with ProMotion technology, allowing dynamic refresh rate adjustments up to 120Hz.

The device may also feature the Camera Control button, which debuted on the iPhone 16 lineup last year.

Additionally, in terms of performance, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to be powered by the next-generation A19 series chipset, similar to the rest of the iPhone 17 lineup.

The upcoming iPhone is expected to replace the Plus model in Apple's lineup, with a starting price of around $900.
