Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, was notably absent from Balmoral Castle when the monarch died in September 2022.

According to a recent biography of King Charles, the 43–year-old had plans to accompany Prince Harry to Queen’s deathbed, but, she was asked to stay away by King Charles.

As per a close source, "King Charles made it clear that he wanted Harry to have this moment with his family without any distractions. Meghan’s presence might have complicated things, so he gently suggested she remain behind."

Moreover, the biography also shed light on the absence of Kate Middleton, revealing didn’t marked her appearance due to her personal choice.

“Kate’s decision to stay home was entirely her own. There was no request made for her to remain behind; it was a respectful gesture on her part.”

A royal insider went on explaining, “The family had to tread carefully in these delicate moments, ensuring no one felt slighted. It was a complex situation, but ultimately, the priority was the Queen’s final moments with her loved ones.”
