Jennifer Coolidge shocked fans after she opened up about roles she wasn’t too fond of.

She spoke about feeling trapped in a typecasting cycle prior to securing roles in The White Lotus and Riff Raff.

During a candid chat with Us Weekly, the 63-year-old star mentioned she was constantly cast for roles of a 'Trophy Wife.'

"When I did Best in Show for the longest time, I was just offered these sort of trophy wife parts over and over. There would be scripts at my front doorstep. And I’d pick them up and I’d be like, 'Ah, I know exactly what these are gonna be.'"

"And sure enough, a lot of them were just sort of the same woman and a rich guy, spoiled wife being offered continually as if that was all I could do," she disappointedly shared as she felt like her talents were being wasted.

However, things soon changed for the better for the Two Broke Girls alum after being given a role in Mike White's show, where she played Tanya McQuoid on the hit HBO series, garnering her a couple Emmys.

Jennifer then went on to receive another offer for the comedy crime movie Riff Raff, starring alongside a star-studded cast Ed Harris, Pete Davidson, Gabrielle Union, Lewis Pullman, Bill Murray and more.

Talking about her role in the movie, where she plays Ruth, Ed’s self destructive ex-wife, she admitted that a role like Ruth was quite different from what she was used to and had never been offered to her before. Jennifer further expressed gratitude for being allowed to use her talents portraying a fresh and different character.

The film’s narrative focuses on Ed’s character, Vincent, a former criminal who has a peaceful life but faces an explosive turn when his son and ex-wife return for a chaotic family reunion.

"I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was really great getting to do something different,"  the Legally Blonde actress remarked.
