WhatsApp has introduced a new advanced chat privacy feature for Android users, allowing them to restrict media sharing in conversations.

This new update is a part of the Meta-owned platform's ongoing efforts to enhance user privacy and security.

This optional feature prevents photos, videos, voice messages, and documents from automatically downloading to devices.

Currently in the development process, the privacy feature was recently spotted in the Android beta version 2.25.10.4 of WhatsApp.

Once activated from the app's settings, it allows users to prevent their shared images and videos from being automatically saved to the recipient’s gallery.

Notably, the feature is similar to the disappearing messages feature, giving users control over their conversations and reducing the risk of unauthorised chat exports.

WhatsApp users can enable or disable the feature in app settings, providing greater control over shared conversations and sensitive discussions.

By enabling this setting, users will have more control over their conversations and can reduce the risk of sensitive information being shared without their consent.

Moreover, WhatsApp is testing restrictions that could block the export of entire chat histories, especially when one or more participants have enabled this privacy mode.
