Dove Cameron opened up about her prolonged mental health issues in an appearance on the podcast, Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard.

Cameron shared the harrowing details of her experience as a Disney child star, disclosing the personal struggles she encountered after rising to fame through her role in Liv and Maddie.

The Descendants star also revealed she got famous shortly after her father’s demise which led to difficulty in balancing her personal and professional life.

"There was no way for me to wrap my head around it. We were at his funeral, and then a couple months later, I was at The Grove with people asking me to sign glossies," she said.

Cameron, 29,  admitted she didn’t know how to deal with her stardom initially, she mentioned, "I didn’t really learn how to navigate fan attention or public attention for many years. I used to have full panic attacks."


Talking more about her father’s death, she added, "There was so much going on in my personal life... That's going to affect any kid. When you're 15 and that happens, it changes the course of your life."

Irrespective of the struggles she was facing, Cameron found herself enjoying on the set of Liv and Maddie referring it as “a great escape”.

The Vengeance actress also credited Disney for creating a safe environment for her, she recalled, "I would come to work every day and some days would be good and some days would be bad, and everybody was super protective of me."

In terms of her singing career, Cameron released a music video on February 21, Too Much, which has surpassed 4 million views on YouTube.
