Eric Dane shares heart breaking news ahead of 'Euphoria' season 3

Eric Dane recently shared heart-breaking news related to his health, ahead of filming season 3 of Euphoria.

The 52-year-old actor, who plays Cal Jacob, Jacob Elordi’s character Nate Jacobs's strict father, announced that he has been diagnosed with ALS. “I have been diagnosed with ALS,” he told PEOPLE in an interview.

Dane, who married to Rebecca Gayheart, went on to say, “I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter.”

The father-of-two, continued, “I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to set of Euphoria next week.”

Before concluding, the Charmed actor, who will begin filming for his part on April 14, said, “I kindly ask that you give my family and I privacy during this time.”

For the unversed, ALS stands for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. It is a nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.

Such diagnosis can cause loss of muscle control and it gets worse over time, according to the Mayo Clinic.
