The tech billionaire and Tesla CEO Elon Musk's popularity among Americans is declining as revealed by a recent poll.

According to American statistician Nate Silver's Silver Bulletin, 53.5% of people voted against Musk, while 39.6% held a favourable opinion.

To note, this marks a significant increase in Musk’s unpopularity since the start of 2024, when 38% of people disliked him.

Silver's "Do Americans have a favourable or unfavourable view of Elon Musk" tracker shows statistics from January 1, 2024 till April 1, 2025.

For the unversed, Musk’s work as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and his support for US President Donald Trump's presidential campaign, including paying voters, have contributed to the growing disapproval.

Notably, under Musk’s supervision, DOGE's efforts to access sensitive government areas, such as IRS records and the US Treasury's payments system, have also sparked controversy.

It should be noted that this is not the first time a site has noted Musk’s unpopularity as earlier news outlets, including Fox News, Politico, and Axios, have reported similar findings, indicating a growing distaste for Musk among Americans.

Notably, Musk’s involvement in the Wisconsin Supreme Court election, where he used similar voter-paying tactics, appears to have backfired, with over half of voters disapproving of his actions.
