Florence Pugh reflects on convincing Marvel for horrific stunt

Florence Pugh has recently shared the secret behind securing permission for a stunt which required her to jump from the world’s second tallest building during the filming of the upcoming Marvel movie, Thunderbolts.

The 29-year-old revealed she tirelessly emailed Marvel's boss Kevin Feige to grant her  permission to perform the stunt herself, from the Merdeka 118 building in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia which stands at 2,722 feet tall.

“I got on all the emails. It was in the script, and then slowly as we got closer and closer to shooting, they said they don’t think it’s going to happen because it’s a crazy insurance ordeal and obviously we’re not going to throw [me] off the second tallest building in the world,” said the We Live In Time  actress.

Expressing her disdain for the initial decision, she exclaimed, “Of course we are! We have to do that.”

Appealing to Feige’s marketing sense, the Oscar-nominated actress disclosed her technique behind convincing him, sharing, “I was being a sassy Karen emailing Kevin and saying it’s going to do wonders for the press tour.”

“I had to keep on pushing and then they’re like, ‘Okay, if you want to fall off the second tallest building, we’ll figure it out for you,’” she continued.

On the topic, the Midsommar actress also dished about her penchant for heights and how she did not really mind doing the dangerous stunt.

“I don’t mind heights. I quite like them and enjoy them,” she said, while also adding, “but that was a whole different ball game and insane.”

Admitting the risks involved in such a task, Pugh revealed, “The mental control I had to do that day was its own super power.”

Florence Pugh returns to the Marvel franchise as Yelena Belova, a character which was introduced in 2021’s Black Widow, in Thunderbolts which will be released on May 2, 2025.
