Prince William and Kate Middleton require the members of their staff to strictly follow a particular rule which they have outlined to them for the protection of their three children.

While the Prince and Princess of Wales have resided at the modest four-bedroom Adelaide Cottage with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis since 2022, a recent advertisement for the post of housekeeping in the Kensington household has unveiled a rule previously unknown.

The advert, which recently went up on the royal family’s official website, described an “exciting opportunity” to work with the Waleses and “join a supportive and positive team”.

However, the candidate was required to follow a strict anti-gossip policy, with the job statement emphasising on “maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion”.

Additionally, British journalist Valentine Low previously revealed specifications about workwear requirements for the future king and queen’s home staff, which he claimed to have received from an employee under them.

Reporting that the couple preferred casual attire over formal attire, Low shared his source’s response, “The kids run around the office, and William does not want it to be stuffy. If we have important meetings or are going to Buckingham Palace, then, of course, we dress up.”

Furthermore, a butler is not hired to work at the Waleses’ Adelaide property as they “did not seek to boost the staff numbers at Adelaide Cottage”, according to royal biographer Robert Hardman.

“The Kensington Palace team does include a ‘yeoman’, a multi-tasking attendant who looks after everything from luggage to uniforms, but there is no ‘gentleman’s gentleman’ on the staff. ‘And certainly no butler,’ adds one source. ‘It’s very much them at home with the kids,” he wrote.

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s requirements for their life at the Adelaide Cottage is aimed at preserving the “ordinary” around their children, while the couple’s official residence, Kensington Palace, is considered “the office”.
