Princess Beatrice apologises after latest move
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's eldest daughter misses out on major event

Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's eldest daughter Princess Beatrice expressed regret for missing out on a significant event.
The 36-year-old Royal family member has missed out on the Oscar's Book Prize event in west London on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, for which she came forward with an apology.
She sent her regrets to attendees by James Ashton, who created the charity with his wife, Viveka Alvestrand.
Before the event began and the winner of the coveted £10,000 award was announced, he addressed the guests sharing the news of the Princess' absence.
Taking the stage, he went on to explain why the Princess was unable to attend the ceremony, referring that she had welcomed her baby daughter Athena with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
"You may have noticed that she added to her family recently," James said.
The royal couple had celebrated the arrival of their daughter earlier this year, in January and has kept them occupied since.
Despite Beatrice's absence from the event, it was successfully carried on and wasn’t hindered by her lack of presence.
Since 2017, the Royal family member has supported Oscar's Book Prize as a patron, and was also involved as a judge in 2024.
The royal has also been open about her own struggles with dyslexia from her childhood, and has previously talked about how her parents continued to support her and how the 'magic of stories' encouraged her to continue to read.
