Apple has released the highly anticipated iOS 18.5 update that brings emergency satellite features to iPhone 13 users for the first time.

Earlier, these cutting-edge features were exclusive to iPhone 14 and later models.

The emergency satellite system allows users to contact emergency services, send texts via satellite, share information with emergency contacts, or call for roadside assistance when cellular or Wi-Fi signals are unavailable.

The feature has already proven to be lifesaving in various situations, including rescuing lost or injured hikers and helping people affected by wildfires.

Notably, iPhone 13 users can check if they have access to this feature by going to the Cellular menu in their iPhone's Settings.

In addition to the satellite emergency services, the iOS 18.5 update also includes several smaller updates, including the Screen Time feature, which is a part of Apple's parental control software, now alerts parents if their child correctly enters the parent's passcode to access Screen Time permissions.

Moreover, the Mail app has been updated, making it easier to access the "All Mail" category as its tab.

The update also addresses several bugs, including an issue where the Apple Vision Pro app would launch with a black screen if downloaded from the App Store.
