Elon Musk applauds Google DeepMind's Veo 3 AI video model
The tech billionaire Elon Musk has praised Google’s recently introduced artificial intelligence (AI) model, Veo 3.
Launched at Alphabet's annual developer event this week, the latest iteration of AI-powered video generation tool is developed by Google DeepMind.
Google DeepMind’s co-founder and CEO, Demis Hassabis, commented that Veo 3 demonstrates an impressive grasp of intuitive physics.
He suggested that the model's capabilities could contribute to deeper understanding of the computational complexity of the universe.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk responded to the post showcasing Veo 3, stating, “It is awesome. Nice work.”
It should be noted that Musk had also shown interest in Veo 2, its predecessor, last year.
Google’s Veo 3 stands out by not only producing high-resolution, cinematic-quality visuals but also by incorporating realistic audio.
This includes ambient sounds, special effects, and even spoken dialogue, a feature that sets it apart from other leading video-generation models such as OpenAI’s Sora, Meta’s MovieGen, and Runway’s Gen-4, none of which currently support audio integration.
The model's ability to create synchronised sound alongside lifelike visuals has captivated online audiences, with some clips going viral and prompting viewers to question whether the content was real or AI-generated.
While Musk has praised Google’s advancements in video AI, he has previously criticised Google's Gemini AI model, accusing it of political bias after it faced backlash for generating historically inaccurate images.
