Dwayne Johnson takes on new 'challenge' as he joins A24’s Thriller

Dwayne Johnson is never afraid of taking on new challenges and has recently taken on a new role in A24’s thriller.

According to Deadline, the 53-year-old star will appear in the upcoming psychological thriller by the independent film studio called Breakthrough as a supporting actor.

In the film, he will take on the role of a life coach in a story which is said to be set in "Southern California." As per reports by the outlet, his character forms a bond with "an alienated young man," but beneath his charming persona lies a much darker truth.

On May 29, the Moana star took to Instagram, and reportedly confirmed his involvement in the exciting new project. 

Dwayne further went on to express his excitement to portray a complex character, making it seem evident that this is the type of role he was waiting for, penning in the caption of the post, "I’ve been very hungry (and grateful) for this kind of challenge."

He further went on to explain the meaning behind this project, saying, "The story is a deep dark psychological dive into the culture of motivational "gurus", and those souls seeking to find their greater purpose in life."

"It’s a character I can try to unhinge. And perhaps rip open," the Jumanji actor added.

Fans rushed to the comment section to show their support, with some saying, "I love the new career path he's taking. I hope the A24 collaborations turn out to be good."
