Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their daughter Lilibet in 2021 and as the young princess is about to clock in her fourth birthday, the huge cultural change her parents inspired with her name has been discovered.

Named Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, the soon-to-be four year old was named after two of the most important women in her father’s life; Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana.

Lilibet was the pet name of her great grandmother when she was young and though she was born during the former Queen’s reign, her grandmother Diana had long passed on.

Now it has come to light that the choice made by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in naming their daughter made the moniker skyrocket in terms of popularity.

Pregnancy info website called The Bump tracked the name’s influence in the aftermath of Harry and Meghan’s choice.

It was thus revealed that the name climbed the popularity rankings in 2022, a year after Lilibet’s birth, for the first time since 1988.

“In 2022, Lilibet peaked at number 5,102 - and rose by 1,368 percent in 2023. The website also shared that Lilibet ranked at number 2,072 in 2024,” reported The Daily Express.

Princess Lilibet is Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s second child, born after Prince Archie, and she will turn four years old on June 4.
