Microsoft Bing gets access to OpenAI’s Sora video generator

Microsoft has unveiled a new tool within the Bing app that allows users to generate videos from text prompts using OpenAI’s powerful artificial intelligence (AI)- powered Sora model.

The integration of Sora into Bing represents a significant step in making advanced AI video tools accessible to everyday users at no cost.

Dubbed “Bing Video Creator,” this marks the first time the Sora video generation tool is available for free to the public, breaking from OpenAI’s usual model, which restricts access to paid users.

Exclusive to the Bing mobile app, the feature enables users logged into a Microsoft account to create up to 10 AI-generated video clips at no cost.

After that, each additional video will require 100 Microsoft Rewards points that users can earn by conducting Bing searches or making purchases via the Microsoft Store.

For instance, users can collect 5 points per Bing search on a PC, up to 150 points daily.

Currently, Bing Video Creator supports up to three queued videos at a time, each capped at a maximum of 5 seconds.

While Microsoft advertises a “fast” generation mode, videos can still take several hours to process. The tool only supports vertical (9:16) videos, ideal for platforms like TikTok and Instagram; however, a horizontal format is reportedly in development.
