Lorde shares her thoughts over 2021 album 'Solar Power' during interview

Lorde revealed how she feels about her 2021 album Solar Power during an interview.

On Thursday, June 5, the New Zealand singer talked about her album Solar Power during her appearance on Jake Shane’s Therapuss podcast.

The 28-years-old revealed that her album received mixed reactions and reviews from fans.

The What Was That singer opened about feeling overwhelmed by the success oh her 2017 album Melodrama for which she embarked on a major arena tour.

"This thing that was my hobby that I did after school is now, like, my employment, and I employ all these other people," she recalled. "It’s gotten too big. Like, I’m a kid,” she added.

Lorde admitted she felt scared as she aged and saw new talent rising. She wondered if she wanted to continue at that level.

The Team songstress further declared that “Solar Power came from a place of feeling very joyful and chill."

After the hardcore and intense music of Melodrama she wanted something “that feel very light and easy after that” Lorde said for Solar Power.

"I love Solar Power so much, and I truly needed to make it. I wouldn’t be here with another album if I hadn’t made Solar Power, but I think it showed me that you have no choice but to be who you’re supposed to be," she added.

The Grammy-winner went home New Zealand to reconnect with herself she added, “had this moment of being like, I don’t know if I want to do all of that. I’m going to be this girl who’s sort of off the map and really mysterious and even more distant."

Lorde’s upcoming album, Virgin is sett to launch on Friday, June 25, 2025.
