In a surprising turn of events, King Charles grand Ascot procession was briefly delayed after his sister Princess Anne’s carriage broke down, as reported by GB News.

She joined her son Peter Phillips and his girlfriend Harriet Sperling at the esteemed racing event, highlighting an important moment in the couple’s relationship.

On June 17, Harriet marked her first appearance in the royal carriage, after she was first seen publicly with Peter back in May 2024.

A source came forward and informed the outlet that the second carriage in the royal procession, which was carrying Princess Anne, the Duke and Duchess of Wellington and Queen Camilla's sister, Annabel Elliot, had "broken down."

"The Royal Grooms sprang into action to fix the harness, and after a delay of a few minutes, the carriage was back in action on its way to Ascot," the insider continued.

Due to the unexpected mishap, the carriage procession was delayed by about five minutes.

According to the source, the King had stopped along the route to allow time for his sister, Princess Royal’s carriage to catch up and rejoin them.
