The Wales couple has stood firm against many challenges together

Kate Middleton resumed her public duties this year after previously receiving her cancer diagnosis in 2024.
However, while the Princess of Wales has returned to her work, she continues to feel the weight of her illness’ aftermath as it demonstrated through the latest cancellation of her previously scheduled appearance at Royal Ascot.
The future queen has enjoyed the steadfast support of her husband, Prince William, throughout the ordeal however and thus, those close to the pair have also taken notice of the situation as they divulged details about the couple’s future plans.
“There are some major shifts coming behind the scenes. They are really finessing what works and what doesn’t,” one of the Wales couple’s close friends revealed to PEOPLE.
The same source also shared that the future king and queen are additionally taking charge of things by “building a trusted team of top advisors”.
Meanwhile, a separate royal source further stated that the lack of “privacy” during Princess Kate’s publicly known battle with cancer also played a role in the couple’s trying times.
Though they also hailed the Princess as an indispensable part of the Crown, adding, “I don’t think you ever recover fully from what Kate has had to endure this last year. She has always been a huge asset to the Royal Family, but even more so now.”
Previously, Kate Middleton attended the Trooping the Colour ceremony and Order of the Garter parade alongside Prince William, while the latter had to make a solo appearance at Royal Ascot on Wednesday in his wife’s absence.
