Fall of royal dynasties around the world

Many royal families that once shaped global history, and were regarded as a symbol of immense splendor, tradition, and unwavering authority have now completely faded from political existence.

Some power have quite died out in the political world. Revolutions, wars and drifting ideologies have been happening at the expense of some of the illustrious dynasties of the world.

The best example with regard to longer term may be the Romanov dynasty in Russia, that lasted more than 300 years only to be toppled by the Bolshevik Revolution when the Tsar Nicholas II and the entire family was executed in 1918.

The Bourbon dynasty of France was also the best example of European aristocracy that met the same end during the French revolution in the late 18 th century and reached its climax with the famous beheading of the King Louis XVI.

The powerful Hohenzollern family of Germany who ruled over the German Empire was stripped of their throne post World War I in 1918, while Italy’s House of Savoy, who unified Italy, lost its dominion after WWII when a republic was voted in.

Another notable example is the Ottoman Empire, who was a potent force globally, lost their royal line in 1924 when the Sultanate was abolished by Turkey.

Although they are reduced to being historical or social figures, these royal families’ official dominion has crumbled away, with the remnants being opulent palaces, turbulent history, and rich legacies which still captivate the world.
