Harry and Meghan’s aides recently attended ‘peace talks’ in London
A breakthrough meeting between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s top representatives with King Charles’ aides in London last week prompted tons of scrutiny about the couple’s plans for a potential return to the UK.
However, an insider has put those speculations to bed as the recent meeting was described as “a good first step” and nothing more.
“It was a good first step. It is always better to be talking,” the source shared with PEOPLE.
Previously, chief of staff and communications director for the Duke of Sussex, Meredith Maines and the King’s communications secretary, Tobyn Andrea, met at a private members club in London on July 13 to peacefully discuss the next best course of action in the Sussex team’s prolonged rift with the royal family.
While it is unlikely that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will ever move back to the UK permanently, there have been occasions where Harry has expressed his deep love for the country as well as desire to at least be able to visit.
“I miss the UK, I miss parts of the UK, of course I do. I think that it’s really quite sad that I won’t be able to show my children my homeland,” said the 42-year-old prince in his BBC interview from earlier this year.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle currently reside in the Montecito neighbourhood of California, where they raise their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
