Sarah Ferguson has commended the courage of both King Charles and Kate Middleton amid their journey with cancer, but while praising them, she also highlighted the importance of honouring the countless everyday heroes outside the Royal spotlight battling the illness.

During her presence at the renowned Knights of Charity Gala in Cannes, France, the 65-year-old Duchess of York, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023 and skin cancer the following year, took a moment to share her thoughts.

She spoke from her heart at the Château de la Croix des Gardes soirée, expressing deep empathy for the experiences of the 76-year-old Monarch and the 43-year-old Princess of Wales with cancer.

"They’ve pushed through and deserve an enormous star of courage," she stated.

Sarah also emphasised that everyone battling cancer matters too, whether they are public figures or not.

"The recognition shouldn’t just be for royals, but everyone battling this disease," she firmly said.

She went on to reflect on the complexities of Cancer, showing understanding of its emotional and physical toll.

"You have to have the pins in the right place... and I always forget that," the bestselling novelist, memoirist, and children's book author told The Mail.

The Duchess’ sentiments seemingly mirrored those of Kate’s who described her battle with cancer as a "rollercoaster" at the Colchester Hospital.

"There was often an expectation that following treatment, cancer patients 'crack on, get back to normal,’" she stated.

The Future Queen stressed that it is important for cancer patients to discover their "new normal" at their own pace instead of expecting to bounce back instantly.
