Prince William and Kate Middleton have reportedly chosen Eton College as the next step in Prince George’s education as he nears his teen years.

While the eldest son of Prince and Princess of Wales is due to celebrate his 12th birthday this month, a new source has shared that his potential future school was once opposed by Princess Diana for a very specific reason.

Former butler for the late Princess and George’s grandmother, Paul Burell told the Daily Express that Diana disapproved of Eton for her youngest son, Prince Harry.

“When they went to Eton, Diana didn’t want Harry to attend Eton; she knew that he would be compared to William, who had gone before him,” he said.

He further stated that this was in part due to the Duke of Sussex being a less “brighter” student than his elder brother.

“William is much brighter, and he excelled; Harry wasn’t and didn’t. And so, she knew it would be a difficult path for Harry,” claimed the ex-royal staffer.

Notably, Harry also recounted his experience at Eton along similar lines, in his memoir titled Spare.

He wrote that the famous public school was “heaven for brilliant boys, it could thus only be purgatory for one very unbrilliant boy.”

Meanwhile, Prince George’s future at Eton College was also recently questioned by other royal experts.

Majesty Magazine’s managing editor Joe Little claimed that since Prince William and Kate Middleton have not addressed the matter publicly, it might be so because the Eton tradition seems “too elitist” now.
